Auctions solve problems! I have the opportunity to talk about auctions everyday and one of the most common questions I get is “why auction?” and it’s a fair question. In the past, auctions have been seen as a tool for liquidation, almost as a last resort to other methods. While this can still be true, the world of online auctions has dramatically changed the buying audience- opening the bidder pool to competition all over the country.
Our online auctions begin with an intensive marketing plan tailored for the specific asset we are selling. Just this year, we sold a mobile home park in Columbus GA. The marketing plan for that property looked much different than the rental house in Statesboro GA we sold last week. Although the assets were very different and the plans were different, both auctions exceeded price expectations.
Auctions, when advertised properly, provide maximum exposure for your assets. The exposure, along with a timed deadline, creates urgency and leads to competitive bidding. This is the primary reason that the most prized possessions in the world go to auction. Shelby Cobras, Micky Mantle Rookie cards and fine art don’t trade on FB Marketplace- they are sold at auction! We can sell your property at auction and you can benefit from that same type of competitive bidding.
Are all situations right for auction? No… It’s our job to help guide you through the process and if an auction isn’t right for you and your situation, we will be honest with you and give you the best advice that we can. An auction is only successful when both parties understand the process and agree that it is the direction that we need to go. We can advise you on the best solution for you if we agree that auction isn’t the best option.
Are all auctions absolute? An absolute auction means that the asset sells regardless of price. Unless an auction is advertised as an absolute auction, you can assume that there is a price minimum that is expected. It’s our job to ensure that the prices we discuss with our sellers are reasonable and achievable.
All auctions are different but have one common denominator- if we are all working together to solve a problem, the auction can yield excellent results in a timely, efficient manner.
If you would like to discuss whether an auction is right for your situation, please reach out to me.
